    <summary type="html">&lt;div&gt;my friend and i are going to pretty much drop out of the working world and bum around for a while starting this summer we both have a bit of traveling experience via bands in vans or greyhounds but we are probably going to be hitching and such. i was just wondering what fellow nomads would consider absolutely essential to life on the road as in gear, ex tent, how much water, food (aside from dumpstering), clothes, first aid, cell phones? any of that stuff? any advice would be greatly appreciated as we want to know what people find is most often needed so we dont over prepare. &lt;/div&gt;

&lt;br/&gt;-Poi Toi &amp;amp; Fushia's (a lot! you guys rock!)
&lt;br/&gt;-Too many couches, floors, and beds to list (thank you all!)
&lt;br/&gt;-Other peoples' tents (I don't have a tent) in several forests and deserts
&lt;br/&gt;-A Barn
&lt;br/&gt;-A platform high up in a Redwood tree
&lt;br/&gt;-A hammock
&lt;br/&gt;-on a bean bag at a huge party
&lt;br/&gt;-On a piece of cardboard by the railroad tracks- twice
&lt;br/&gt;-On a *tarp* by the railroad tracks
&lt;br/&gt;-Under the stars (sleeping bag) in waaaaaaay too many places to list now
&lt;br/&gt;-Sleeping Bag-less by a few bonfires
&lt;br/&gt;-multiple cars, trucks and vans
&lt;br/&gt;-a few chairs
&lt;br/&gt;-in three different hotsprings, in three different states
&lt;br/&gt;-a tipi
&lt;br/&gt;-a schoolbus
&lt;br/&gt;-the massage table behind the BM staff commissary
&lt;br/&gt;-two semi-trucks
&lt;br/&gt;-two motel rooms (thanks trucker Dave, Boo, and Dimitri!)
&lt;br/&gt;-a cabin by the Yuba River
&lt;br/&gt;-on the cement outside a truckstop
&lt;br/&gt;-a few squats
&lt;br/&gt;-a porch or two
&lt;br/&gt;-a hospital waiting room
&lt;br/&gt;-a hospital bed (separate occasion)
&lt;br/&gt;-several domes (three with running water and power, &amp;amp; quite a few portable camp-out types)
&lt;br/&gt;-a few parks
&lt;br/&gt;-a few trailers (currently on a couch in a DPW trailer park in Gerlach, NV)
&lt;br/&gt;
&lt;br/&gt;States I've travelled since Winter:
